How to care about personal hygiene and stay clean while camping

Tips & tricks

Even though this type of trip involves staying in nature and sleeping outdoors, there are many ways to maintain hygiene while camping!

Staying in nature is a beautiful way to relax, but it’s not uncommon to get our clothes dirty. Of course, this is no problem if it’s a one-day trip, because you wash your clothes as soon as you get home. But in case you’re staying a few days, it’s desirable to know a few tips to maintain cleanliness and your personal hygiene!

Portable shower

If you are not lucky enough to camp in a place that offers showers, the best solution is a portable shower! It’s practical and does not take up too much space. You can choose between several different models, depending on the brand, volume, hose length, faucet, etc. If you decide to buy a portable shower, do a little research and purchase according to your needs.

Shampoos and soaps

If you have long hair and have been camping for a few days now, a dry wash shampoo is a very good idea. Aside from being a great alternative, you won’t have to wet your head, and that’s great news if it’s autumn or winter camping. To wash the body, always try to use natural and cold-pressed soaps that are not a threat to the environment. There are thousands of different types of cold-pressed soaps, so there’s no reason not to try some of them!

Sanitizer and wet wipes

This is something you should always have in your backpack! In addition to constantly keeping your hands clean with wet wipes, a sanitizer will help you get rid of bacteria. If possible, use biodegradable wipes. If you use ordinary ones, be careful not to leave them in nature and dispose of them properly.

Lakes and rivers

If you are camping while the temperatures are comfortable, you can also take advantage of your surroundings. For example, you can wash your clothes in a nearby lake or river and refresh yourself along the way. Of course, please do not use any detergents, as they will harm flora and fauna! Avoiding detergent also applies to cleaning the tent because, in addition to spoiling the environment, it can also damage its fabric. Instead, shake your tent well, wash it with water and let it dry in the sun. These tips don’t apply to the sea either, because salt will only worsen things.

These are just some tips on maintaining hygiene if you decide to spend a few days in nature. In general, make an effort to forget all the products that can harm your environment during those days and replace them with natural products. Also, dispose of wipes, ear sticks, menstrual pads, and other waste properly!
