Dehydrated camping food recipes

Cooking dehydrated meals while camping doesn’t have to be boring. Sometimes it means putting a little more effort while shopping for ingredients, but it all pays out when you’re on your trip and enjoying something easy-to-prepare and, at the same time, exotic.

Not your average ramen

The real dehydrated camping food magic comes from using a lot of vegs and spices!

Preparation:

Boil two cups of water, add ramen, a bouillon cube, crumbled toasted nori, dehydrated corn and soy sauce. Simmer for about five minutes, then garnish with green onions and chilli flakes — and voila, the not your average ramen is ready!

Coconut curry soup

For this recipe, you’ll need coconut cream powder. It’s a bit hard to find, but it should be available in Asian grocery stores and online.

Preparation:

Boil the noodles and dehydrated vegetables. When the veggies are rehydrated and the noodles are cooked, stir in the coconut cream mixture, a bouillon cube, curry powder and cayenne pepper.

Once you have boiling water, you can prepare most of these freeze-dried options in less than 10 minutes. On the other hand, it’s totally understandable that, while on a camping trip, you want to take a day off from cooking.
